The design + build processDuring our final phases of construction, we used time lapse photography to document several significant moments in the fabrication of the Learning Barge. This began with disassembling the completed components in the Milton fabrication site in Charlottesville, Virginia in order to pack and move pieces to the final construction site: the shipyard of Precon Construction in Chesapeake, Virginia. Here we documented the construction of the hull of the Learning Barge, various concrete pours onboard, the assembly of the rainscreen along 'Energy Alley' and the installation of various elements within the classroom. Our documentation at the Precon site culminated when the Learning Barge was lifted into the water on August 8, 2009.
